Welcome to Albany Primary School
Welcome to our school’s website. I hope that you will find it informative and useful and it provides you with an understanding of what our school stands for and cares about.
We’ve just concluded a very busy yet enjoyable first half of the year with our students demonstrating that they care a great deal about their learning, their school and building sound relationships between each other and the adults who work with them.
During second term we had a number of whole school events that were well organised and structured with very pleasing student participation. At the start of the term we held the in-term swimming lessons and commenced Eagles Cup football. We also held our own school cross country with many students doing the course in personal best times. This was followed by the recently held interschool cross country in which we were placed third. A highly commendable effort!
We also conducted our Indonesian Extravaganza that involved students being workshopped in dance, visual arts, cooking and martial arts. Our students joined in with the visiting artists to present some items to the rest of the school. It was a great day! Not long after that our instrumental music students also joined the Albany Youth Orchestra to perform for the whole school. They participated in a very accomplished manner and the band gave a rousing performance. Coupled with music lessons for years 1 and 2 and our entertaining assemblies during which classes provide the entertainment you can see that our school invests time in developing the performing arts (even in years when the year 6/7s don’t do their major drama production).
One of the highlights for the students would have been our school discos which the P and C and school ran for the students in the various age groups. Everyone had a lot of fun and really “got into” the evening. We were very impressed with the way in which our student councillors assisted to organise the event.
Throughout the term it was a pleasure for me to engage in activities within classrooms and see just how much work the students are putting in. All classrooms have a real sense of purpose and students demonstrate just how keen they are to do well and improve. They take pride in their achievements and assist each other in the learning program. We also have 23 students from years 5 to 7 who also engage in PEAC courses and our Science Program is second to none!
Yes, it’s a great school to be part of and, with the staff focussing on implementing a range of Literacy strategies to further enhance our school’s performance, we should go from strength to strength. We have a very supportive parent group, great staff and wonderful students! It sounds too good to be true….but that’s how it is!
Cheers,
Brian Lee

Check out the Environment tab above.
We recently installed an electronic weather station on the roof of the Admin Building. Data regarding temperature, wind, rainfall and air pressure can be downloaded to the Science Room PC for students to access and incorporate into their learning activities. We have now uploaded the current data from this station.
Overview of the Independent Public Schools Initiative
The Independent Public Schools initiative honours a State Government pre-election commitment to hand greater control to schools.
In collaboration with their school community, Independent Public Schools set their own strategic directions, have authority for day-to-day decision making and are in an ideal position to make decisions that best cater for their students. Parents and community members have an important and enhanced role in this initiative.
